Dear LP Families,
February is an important month in our school community as we join together to celebrate Black History Month. This is a time to honor the achievements, contributions, and lived experiences of Black Americans throughout history. Throughout the month, our students will engage in meaningful learning that highlights influential leaders, artists, scientists, writers, and trailblazers whose impact continues to shape our world today.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home—celebrating stories of resilience, creativity, courage, and excellence. When students learn about diverse histories and perspectives, they strengthen their sense of belonging and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
Alongside our Black History Month learning, we are excited to introduce our new character strong trait of the month: Honesty.
This month’s focus is on what it means to be truthful in what you say and do. Practicing honesty helps strengthen relationships, builds trust, and even reduces stress. Honesty is one of the three traits in our “Be Well” series from the PurposeFull People curriculum. Across all grade levels, students will practice skills such as emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress management.
Your family newsletter from PurposeFull People (attached below) highlights ways you can continue these conversations at home.
As always, thank you for partnering with us to support both the academic and social–emotional growth of our students. Whether we are learning about the rich legacy of Black History Month or practicing honesty in our daily interactions, these shared experiences help our students grow into thoughtful, compassionate leaders.
Warm regards,
Dr. Bello
