Dear LP Families,
Let's start this week with much gratitude...thank you to our amazing PTA and families who contributed to our 'Welcome Back' breakfast on Monday. The pizza, donuts, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, granola bars and more were so appreciated by our entire staff. You are the best!
I also need to thank our families for completing the DPP and CEP forms. We only have to reach 3 more families which is incredible. Thank you for making this daunting process work out well!
Next week, the entire district will be participating in our fall safety week. During this time, students will practice safety drills such as fire drill, lockdown, evacuating out emergency windows, and even evacuating to the middle school. Safety is our number one priority so it is important that both students and staff practice protocols and procedures for these types of events. We recognize these drills can cause some unease for our students; we try to reduce this response by making sure we talk about each drill and why we are practicing it, communicating with students when the anticipated drill will take place- they are not a surprise, and connecting any students to our mental health staff should they need to share their feelings. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about next week.
Fun news! The district has purchased an EI spirit wear shirt for every student. Mr. Spadoni and Mr. Beigel dropped off shirts to students yesterday and they should have gone home with the kids. Please contact your child's teacher if you are missing a shirt. All the adults in the building have the same shirt but in long sleeves...so cute!
Reading Challenge Ahead! Mrs. Costello and Ms. Weigel are spearheading an LP Reading Challenge with the hopes of encouraging more readers! Each report card cycle, students will be challenged to read 5-10 books at their level. Once they finish a book, they will record it in their library reading folder. Students who read 5 books during the semester will get a certificate and be invited to the first celebration; students who read 10 books will also be invited to a second celebration. Please see the flyer below and be sure to encourage reading at home!
Finally, we have our upcoming spirit week taking place 9/23 through 9/27; just in time to celebrate homecoming weekend. Please see the flyer below for fun activities taking place this week.
Lot's of great things happening in the district- what a fun time to be a Lancer!
Enjoy the weekend,
Dr. Bello
