Dear LP Families,
Earlier this week, I sent home communication about recent inappropriate cell phone use and ways families can support their student in making safe online choices. I hope you have had a chance to read that; when it comes to student safety, we all need to partner together. It truly takes a village.
In that same spirit, I am asking that you support the school in reinforcing our cell phone policy while students are in school. We know students bring cell phones to school for various reasons. However, our policy requires students to silence their phones and keep them in their lockers. At no time should a student have access to their phone during the school day. If students need to contact family members, we are more than happy to let them use our office phone. In the event a student is caught using their phone during the school day, the phone will be confiscated and kept in the office. We will call for a family member to pick up the phone and discuss a plan to help the student follow our cell phone policy. We will be communicating and reinforcing this with all students in the coming weeks. I would appreciate your support in discussing these expectations with your student at home. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
On a lighter note, I would like to thank our amazing PTA and families for organizing a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week! On behalf of our LP staff, we loved the creativity and thoughtfulness that went into each day. We feel blessed to be able to work along side you and with your student!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend,
Dr. Bello
