Principal Update
Mother's Day Weekend

Dear LP Families,

We are nearing the end of our state testing requirements! Students worked very hard this week to complete their math assessments. We are very proud of their perseverance and determination! Fifth grade students will complete their Science state test on Monday, May 12 and then we can call it a wrap.

Please be sure to read the district message below regarding a dangerous TikTok trend circulating social media. As always, we appreciate your partnership and getting this messaging to our students.

Finally, to all the LP moms out there...I hope you have a wonderful weekend celebrating Mother's Day!

Enjoy!

Warning Dangerous TikTok Trend

There is a concerning and dangerous trend circulating on TikTok recently that is happening in schools around the country. Viral videos have shown individuals inserting lead from mechanical pencils, paperclips, and other metal objects into the USB ports of laptops. This trend is causing laptops to emit smoke, poses a significant risk of fire and could potentially cause the battery to explode.

We are asking for your help in addressing this matter with your student(s). Please take a moment to speak with your student(s) about the dangers and consequences of following this trend and encourage them to use technology responsibly. Furthermore, any student caught partaking in this trend will be disciplined in accordance with the District Code of Conduct.

Thank you for your support and partnership in addressing this important safety concern.
