Dear LP Families,
Happy New Year! As I reflected on the first four months of the school year, I was proud to see all that we have accomplished in such a short period of time:
*We have several clubs up and running- Roller Skating Club, Yearbook Club, Drama Club, Reading Club, Math Club, Art Club, and Intramurals.
*We started a student-led community service group called Future Leaders of Tomorrow.
*We provided a Reading Challenge to incentivize students to read more at home.
*Our PTA has hosted a 'Back to School' pizza party, fundraiser, and Roller Skating party.
*LP and HR collaborated to host a summer event at Barnes and Nobles- In our 'Back to School' Era!
*We had a 'Popsicles with the Principal' event where students could meet their new teachers and socialize with each other on the playground.
*We hosted an Open House event, including art show and book fair.
*We've had three spirit weeks- Homecoming week, Winter Week, and an Underground Staff spirit week (hilarious!).
*We had our first whole school community circle around a theme of 'gratitude' and students earned a LP Snow Ball dance for earning 2,000 HEART tickets.
*For the first time, EVERY student is getting built in intervention or enrichment daily during WIN (What I Need) time!
I'm sure I'm missing so much more, but the list above is pretty impressive! We are truly looking forward to the remaining 6 months of school and all the opportunities that are on the horizon. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in our school community and our hope is that you know we sincerely want you there. Students historically perform better in school when they know their families and school community are working as one. It takes a village and I continue to be so proud of what we are building together.
May you have a healthy, safe, and prosperous new year!
Dr. Bello
