Dear Ivan Green Families:

One of my favorite parts about the start of the year is when kindergartners stop me in the hallway and say, "Hey! I saw you on TV." That's when I tell them I'm a bigtime YouTuber! We broadcast our recorded morning show each day (Monday through Thursday) on our Ivan Green Primary School YouTube channel. If you are inclined, you can subscribe for daily notifications or search us up any time. On Fridays, we have a Live Morning Show from rotating classrooms, so they are not on our channel. Miss DiMaria's second graders did an excellent job with our first live morning show today!

Next week at all EICSD schools, we will participate in a Safety Week. We use this as an opportunity to practice all the New York State required drills. Focusing on our drills in one week gives staff an opportunity to ask questions and consider all the "what-ifs." We are grateful for our partnership with the Irondequoit Police Department and our own EICSD director of security, as we implement the drills with their guidance.

We will practice the following drills (in no particular order): Fire drill (out the window/alternate exit), a lock down, a hold-in-place, and a shelter in place. I am happy to talk to anyone with questions or concerns related to the drills.

Hi friends!

I hope everyone is off to a great school year! You may have seen me around campus this last week. My name is Christina Foster, and I work for the Center for Youth, serving the Ivan Green community as your Community Schools Site Coordinator. While this is our first year at Ivan Green Primary School, the Community Schools strategy has been a part of the East Irondequoit School District.

Community Schools are wonderful places where children, families, educators, and community members come together to create a supportive and enriching learning environment. As a coordinator, my goal is to foster strong relationships, provide valuable resources, and ensure everyone thrives both academically and personally. I will be working alongside our principal, teachers, and staff, but also all of you! Students, families, and community members are crucial parts of our Community Schools team.

I am looking forward to getting to know you all and feel so fortunate to be part of such an amazing place like Ivan Green. Keep an eye out for more information from me about Community Schools and the great things happening at IG. My door is always open.
