Welcome from Mr. Hiley

Dear Families:

We successfully completed all of our required safety drills this week. I can remember the angst I felt as a child, even when I knew they were drills. It would not surprise me if your children had some worry about practicing and may want to talk about it this weekend. Fortunately, they are over for the year.

The weeks in May and June are PACKED filled with goodness here at Ivan Green. Field trips, special events, and still so much learning are going to fill up our final weeks. We are looking forward to all the events to cap off a wonderful year! We also look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events.

Thank you to our PTA for sponsor the African drumming experience. A few pictures are below to highlight the good time that was had by all who attended!

Next weekend is our third annual FreeMarket. Friday night is the donation drop off and Saturday is the big event. Spread the word to your family and friends! The details are below.

The FreeMarket is Coming!

Our 4th annual Secondhand FreeMarket is approaching! We hope you and your families will join us for this fun event. If you are planning clothing or household donations in the coming months, please consider saving them for our PTA. Donation drop-offs will be Friday, May 10th from 5-8pm.

News From Ivan Green

Input for Class Placement

We will be accepting written parent input over the next month, as we are preparing to build our classrooms for the 2024-2025 school year. We love hearing input from parents and guardians in terms of the best kind of classroom environment for your children.

We do NOT accept teacher recommendations. Please do not suggest or ask for a specific teacher.

Our goal is to build well-balanced classrooms. At this level, our classrooms have a range of learners, an even split of boys and girls, and we always aim to make sure each student transitions with at least one classmate from his/her previous class.

You can send me an email (lhiley@eastiron.org) by May 15 with your thoughts. We consider all of your input and apply as much as we feasibly can. We do take seriously suggestions for separation, so if you feel like it is time for your child to have a break from a specific classmate, you are welcome to share that with me.

Please be sure to share your thoughts in writing by May 15.
