Ivan Green Weekly Update

February 7, 2025

Welcome from Mr. Hiley

Dear Ivan Green Families:

Thank you to all the grown-ups who joined us for Lunch with Lancers this week. Your children LOVE to have you visit during the day! In total we had 226 adults join our students this week.

One of the highlights from this week was Friday's African Drumming activity by Building Families First. We had two special performances with African storytelling, song, and dance. Students enjoyed dancing and playing instruments. Thank you to our PTA for making this event possible and for helping us celebrate Black History Month at Ivan Green.

We are loving all of the Guess Who projects that are coming in, too. Mrs. Bohrer and I made a video that I will post below if you would like to see some directions and a finished product. We hope your family enjoys this at-home enrichment project. It is optional, but we will display all the finished projects we receive.

Lucas Hiley, Ed.D.

News From Ivan Green

Ivan Green Book Swap

In March, we will be doing a book swap for the whole school. We are looking for gently used children’s books for the students at Ivan Green. These could include picture books, board books, early readers, and early chapter books. Please have your student bring in your donations or please drop them off at school. Thank you!!!

Supporting a New Family in Our Community

A new family has just joined our school, and we have an opportunity to come together and support them as they settle into their new home. They are in need of essential items, including food, clothing (kids sizes: 4/5, 7 & kids shoes: 11, 8), a couch or futon, pots and pans, towels, a kitchen table and chairs, a dresser or clothing storage, lamps, utensils and cooking utensils, toys and books for their kindergarten and first-grade children, and other household necessities.

If you are able to donate, please bring items to my office (in the mental health suite). If you have larger furniture or would like to help with delivery, please reach out. Let’s show this family the warmth and generosity of our community- supporting one another in times of need is what we do.

For questions or to coordinate a donation, contact me at chfoster@eastiron.org

Thank you for helping us welcome this family with kindness!
