Dear Ivan Green Families:
Next week marks the vote for our capital improvement project. There are so many good things to look forward as part of this work. Specific to Ivan Green, we are looking to increase our number of air conditioned spaces and to make some improvements to our playground. There are detailed visuals below. Please make time to vote on December 10 at Eastridge High School.
Many of our classes enjoyed meeting Murphy (our therapy dog) this week. We are grateful to Ms. DiMaria for bringing her passion to our school. The students are LOVING meeting him and looking forward to reading books to him in the future.
The weeks before the mid-winter break are busy for so many reasons. Classrooms will learn about winter holidays around the world. There are so many light bulbs going on in math classes, as math really starts to click for students. It is so fun to watch as they unlock the code to the base ten system. Amidst all the learning and fun, our teachers are also thoughtfully giving and analyzing assessments as they prepare to mark their first round of report cards. The first round of report cards will be sent home on December 20.
I always offer the same advice to families about discussing report cards with their children. It is important to remember that all children's brains develop at different rates. I suggest focusing on the items on the report card that your child can control, such as effort, citizenship, and teamwork. The academic pieces are super important, but they are not always in the control of your little Lancer.
Sincerely,
Lucas Hiley, Ed.D.
