Awesome Attendance Initiative – Let’s Celebrate Showing Up!

We are excited to launch our new Awesome Attendance initiative to recognize and celebrate students and families who prioritize regular school attendance!

Why Attendance Matters

Did you know that missing just two days of school per month can add up to nearly an entire month of lost learning over the course of a school year? Regular attendance in the early years helps children build strong routines, develop important skills, and stay on track academically and socially.

We understand that young students rely on their families to get to school each day. That’s why this initiative is not just about perfect attendance but about encouraging and celebrating families who make school a priority as often as possible!

How It Works

Each month, students who attend school regularly will be entered into a drawing to win a special prize, an Awesome Attendance certificate, and a spot on our Hall of Fame display! Five students per grade level will be selected each month, and winners will be announced on the morning show. Families of students with strong attendance will also receive a recognition letter to celebrate their efforts.

Need Support? We’re Here to Help!

We understand that getting to school every day can be challenging. If your family is facing barriers to attendance—whether it’s transportation, morning routines, or other struggles—please reach out! We are happy to provide resources and support to help make school attendance easier for your family.

For more information on the importance of attendance, check out AttendanceWorks.org for helpful tips and resources.

If you have any questions or need support, please contact Beth Zimber, Social Worker, at ezimber@eastiron.org or Christina Foster, Community Schools Site Coordinator, at cfoster@centerforyouth.net

Thank you for all you do to help your child succeed—we’re excited to celebrate Awesome Attendance with you!
