Help stop the spread of pink eye in schools! Pink eye (conjunctivitis) is a highly contagious illness caused by viruses, bacteria, allergens, or irritants. Symptoms include: redness or swelling to the white of the eye or the inside of the eyelids (eyes may not be red), increased tearing, eye discharge, itching/burning, or crusting. If any students show symptoms, we will be notifying parents to pick up their students and take them for evaluation. Nurses cannot diagnose illness so a provider will need to evaluate your student’s symptoms. If antibiotics are required, oral or drops, your student must be on them for a full 24 hours before they are able to return to school. Please see the attached image about pink eye and how to prevent the spread, both at home and in school. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 339-1314. Thank you.
We will be accepting written parent input over the next month, as we are preparing to build our classrooms for the 2024-2025 school year. We love hearing input from parents and guardians in terms of the best kind of classroom environment for your children.
We do NOT accept teacher recommendations. Please do not suggest or ask for a specific teacher.
Our goal is to build well-balanced classrooms. At this level, our classrooms have a range of learners, an even split of boys and girls, and we always aim to make sure each student transitions with at least one classmate from his/her previous class.
You can send me an email (lhiley@eastiron.org) by May 15 with your thoughts. We consider all of your input and apply as much as we feasibly can. We do take seriously suggestions for separation, so if you feel like it is time for your child to have a break from a specific classmate, you are welcome to share that with me.
Please be sure to share your thoughts in writing by May 15.
We added to our Gym Class Heroes list this week, and Miss Adams has been busy in our music room making music with our little Ivan Greeners.
