Dear East Irondequoit Parents and Guardians,

As the summer days come to an end and we prepare to embrace the start of a new academic year, I look forward to welcoming you and your student(s) back to East Irondequoit schools. I hope you enjoyed a summer filled with a mix of relaxation and adventure, while making treasured memories with family and friends.

We are excited to open a new year of learning, growth, and discovery. Our dedicated team of educators and staff has been hard at work, preparing classrooms, developing engaging lesson plans, and attending professional development workshops to ensure that this school year is enriching and memorable for all our students.

The theme for this new year is “Building Stronger Connections,” a sentiment that underscores the importance of collaboration between our school, families, and community. We believe that by working together, we can create a nurturing and stimulating environment where every student can reach their full potential.

We have several new and exciting initiatives planned for this year, including new curriculum offerings, expanded extracurricular activities, and new resources to support the social and emotional well-being of our students. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded education that fosters academic excellence, creativity, and personal growth.

Communication is key to a successful school year, and we are committed to keeping you informed and involved. Please make sure to regularly check our school website, newsletters, and social media channels for updates and important information. We also encourage you to reach out to your students’ teachers and school administrators with any questions or concerns. Your partnership and engagement are vital to our students’ success.

As we begin this new school year, I want to extend my gratitude for your continued support and trust. Your involvement and commitment to your student’s education makes a significant difference, and together, we can achieve great things.

I have included some important Back-to-School information below, please read through it to make sure your student has everything they need to start the year off right. On behalf of the entire East Irondequoit Central School District, welcome back! We look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and fun!

Regards,

Mary

Superintendent of Schools

P.S. Remember to mark your calendars for our upcoming Open Houses at all six of our schools! It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, learn about the exciting plans for the year, and connect with other parents/caregivers. We can’t wait to see you there!

Breakfast and lunch are Free! Breakfast and lunch are free for all students, regardless of family income.

All students will have access to free breakfast and lunch, regardless of income.

East Irondequoit families are not charged for breakfast and lunch meals served in school because the district participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

What is included in the CEP?

  • CEP will allow each student to get one free breakfast and one free lunch.

  • Breakfast includes a grain (e.g. bagel, breakfast sandwich, pop tarts, muffins, cereal, etc.), fruit, and

    milk.

  • Lunch includes a grain and meat or meat alternative (e.g. spaghetti with meat sauce, pizza,

chicken patty, etc.), fruit, vegetable, and milk.

What is not included in the CEP?

  • CEP does not allow students to get a la carte snacks, drinks, or additional meals for free. The items below (and

more) are available for purchase at an additional cost.

  • Snacks (e.g. chips, cookies, ice cream, etc.)

  • Drinks (e.g. bottled water, Snapple, Gatorade, etc.)

  • A second breakfast meal will cost $1.75, and a second lunch meal will cost $3.00 for students. A la carte pricing is available for individual items should they not want a full reimbursable second meal (milk, fruit & vegetable).

School Supplies

When parents or guardians submit the CEP Household Income Form (complete in the Parent Portal or Download Form) regardless of income level, their student(s) will receive FREE school supplies. Additionally, student(s) also becomes eligible for various other benefits such as no cost Electronic Device Protection (iPads and laptops), no cost instrument rentals, ACT and AP Test Waivers, MCC Dual Enrollment Tuition Waivers, and more.

Device Protection Program Information

After families complete the CEP Household Income Form, they must also complete the Device Protection Program form in the Parent Portal. Completing the CEP Household Income Form will ensure that families do not need to pay for device insurance.
