Dear Parents and Guardians,
Due to the forecast for extreme heat conditions predicted this week and the limited air-conditioned spaces in our elementary schools, on Tuesday, June 18th we have decided to implement a half-day schedule for all elementary students for their safety and comfort.
To mitigate the heat during school hours, our Pre-K through 5th grade students will rotate into air-conditioned spaces and fans will be placed throughout the school to ensure they remain cool and comfortable. Before students are dismissed, a grab and go lunch will be provided to all students.
Please note the dismissal times for the different schools:
Laurelton Pardee and Durand Eastman Intermediate students will be dismissed at 11:35 AM.
Ivan Green and Helendale Road Primary students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM.
As a reminder, all students have no school on Wednesday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. The district will assess the need for a half day on Thursday, June 20th if the heat in the schools continues to be high.
We understand that these last-minute changes may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the well-being of our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s school.
Thank You,
Mary E. Grow
